Millions of Europeans visit annually to enjoy the beaches along the Mediterranean and soak up some ancient culture amongst the well-preserved Roman ruins. The country is bordered by Libya to the southeast and Algeria to the west. It presents a mixture of modern and French colonial architecture (the French ruled 1881-1963), with an amazingly well preserved medieval medina, or old city. The official languages in use are Arabic and French and the predominant religion is Islam. The Tunisian flag has a bright red background with a white disk in the center which holds a crescent and a star. The red color is symbolic of Islam. This motif is considered to be a symbol of good luck. The crescent and the star are also symbolic of the connection between the country and the Ottoman Empire. Some of the popular attractions are located in cities such as Tunis-the capital, Monastir, Hammamet or Gabes. 'Tunisia Live Wallpaper' includes amazing pictures of some of the famous sites of this exotic African destination. To start with, Djerba, for example, located in the Gulf of Gabes, is the largest island which is located on the northern end of country, and a site of incredible beauty.Carthage, an ancient city, lies on the eastern side of Lake Tunis. It has rich history which states that it was of great strategic importance for the Phoenicians, Punics and Romans.Only two amphitheatres in all of the Roman Empire are bigger than the one built in El Jem, which seated 35,000 people who came to watch the gladiatorial combats. Raised above the modern city, the monument can be seen miles away.Ads information:=============This app is ad supported.
